Watching the leaves change during autumn is a great way to help you decide and plan which color variations you want to incorporate into your landscape during the coming spring. Selecting trees, shrubbery, vines, and perennials that change colors during the fall months will keep your landscape not only interesting, but also very professional.
Below is a list of pictures and characteristics of fall foliage to help you select the optimal landscape specimens to get you started. Don’t forget…planning and research are the ultimate tools in creating the perfect landscape. If research isn’t for you, hire a licensed landscape architect to help you during the planning and installation phases.
-Red maple trees in the wild display a variety of forms. In the example shown in the photo here, the form is rather rounded....

*Be carful, not all red maples have red foliage in the fall…it's best to stick with cultivars known for their fall color consistency. If you want red fall foliage, purchase Acer rubrum 'Red Sunset,' a tree that will reach about 50' in height, with a spread of a little less than that.
-Fall foliage photos of Norway maples reveal two distinct looks, one of which is yellow autumn leaves. Norway maples are large trees, reaching an approximate size of 50 feet x 50 feet....they are also a very invasive species.

Crimson King Norway Maple trees have a fall foliage color that is maroon or bronzy.

Euonymus: AKA: Burning Bush: With ridged stems and vase like upright form, burning bush, also known as Winged Euonymus, is an attractive deciduous shrub. The leaves are small pointed ovals and are remarkable for the fiery pinkish-red foliage color that appears in autumn and remains a bright spot for several weeks. The shrubs become more spreading as they mature at a height of 10 to 15 feet. Insignificant yellow flowers are followed by attractive red berries.

Beauty Berry Bush. This bush has a very small insignificant flower in the summer and then it develops green berries that, depending on the amount of sun it gets, begins to turn this gorgeous shade of purplish pink in September and keeps throughout the winter.
